Project Overview
After major disruption throughout their three car parks due to upgrades and repairs to the existing grid-powered lighting, the SCGT needed an alternative solution that met with Australian standards, was a a sustainable solution for years to come and caused no environmental or user disruption.
Environmental & economical benefits with solar lighting
After careful consideration, the SCGT decided that a solar lighting solution was the best way forward due to the environmental benefits associated with sustainable solar lighting. Additionally, solar lighting also afforded the SCGT huge cost savings with no ongoing electricity fees. Therefore, Leadsun put in place a two-stage plan in 2014, and the completed project was successfully delivered in May 2017.
Compliant car park lighting powered by the sun
In the initial stages of the project, the Leadsun team created a tailored, site-specific lighting plan to ensure the lighting design of the car park met with Australian standards in accordance with AS1158.3.1.
Easy & economical installation
The installation team focused on the entrance way where the solar panels were used to power up lights in the main driveway. By using the existing footings and lowerable winch pole, the installation of the LED lights was an easy process. Overall, this was a cost effective solution that eliminated all major construction costs and inconveniences whilst also satisfying popular energy sustainability demands.
Future-proof installation for peace of mind
The team at Leadsun have provided an easy maintenance and future proof lighting installation for the SCGT. Leadsun’s lithium-ion batteries provides a 10 year maintenance-free lifespan for the system, whilst lowerable poles allow for safe, cost-effective servicing from the ground level. Finally, Leadsun’s wireless control and monitoring system, EDGE, was also installed to allow the SCGT team to remotely monitor the system in real time. Thanks to the efforts of bot the SCGT and Leadsun, patrons of the SCG can now enjoy safe and illuminated journeys to and from their favourite sporting matches.
